The word “Pastoral” emphasizes that the focus is on people.

The tasks of a pastoral council are:-

  • To listen, search and respond to the hopes, ideas, needs and concerns of parishioners.
  • To grow in knowledge and awareness of what is already happening in the Parish.
  • To evaluate carefully information gathered in order to make decisions that reflect the values of the Gospel and the teachings of the Church.
  • To develop, implement and improve Parish initiatives that assist parishioners in their continuing efforts to live as effective Christians in society.

Members of our Parish Pastoral Council meet on the second Thursday of each month at 7.30 pm, in the Horstmann Room.

A valuable resource for information on Pastoral Councils is the book titled “Handbook for Parish Pastoral Councils” 3rd Edition.
