Anointing of the Sick

The Sacrament of the Anointing of the sick is a sacrament of healing. Traditionally this sacrament was reserved for the gravely ill and dying. While the sacrament is still ministered in this way, it is further seen as a Sacrament that can be received more than once in a person's life when healing is needed, especially for people experiencing ongoing sickness or poor physical or mental health.

The Sacrament of Anointing can be given at the monthly Anointing Mass celebrated at Holy Spirit Church on the first Friday of the month at 9am or alternatively, if a parishioner is going into hospital they can contact the Parish Office beforehand to arrange a time to meet with the priest. In the instances of grave illness or imminent death contact the Parish Office (3870 7818) to request a priest to come and minister the sacrament privately.

For more information about Anointing of the Sick in the Catholic Church please refer to the Archdiocese of Brisbane website  -  http://brisbanecatholic.org.au/life/anointing-of-the-sick/
